About Mica James Cosentino
Hello! My name is Mica James Cosentino. I have been working with animals for over a decade, with nine of those years specific to veterinary medicine. I hold a certification from the University of Vermont as a Companion Animal End-of-Life Doula, a certification in Thanabotany from the School of American Thanatology, a certification as an End-of-Life Doula from INELDA (International End of Life Doula Association), and a certification in dog training from the CATCH Canine Trainers Academy.
I am a dynamically disabled, non-binary trans man living in west Philadelphia (Lenapehoking land). My pronouns are he/they.
My career thus far in animal care has taught me a lot about professional pet husbandry and companionship. I’ve held positions as a veterinary technician, veterinary receptionist, community support coordinator, surgical coordinator, and ICU coordinator. I am involved in community organizing and mutual aid. I've also been inextricably tied to death from a young age. My path to becoming an animal death doula was very clearly lit by a blend of assorted lived experiences, natural skills, learned behaviors, and academic education.
I care deeply about ensuring that I can work with families from all walks of life. For this reason, my services are entirely sliding scale.
When I’m not working as a doula, you can usually find me writing lyrics, cooking vegan food, reading, spending time with my cat and dog, socializing with my partner and friends, or foraging in the woods.
