“Mica validated my feelings and made me feel safe in our sessions. He suggested I write out all the things that would make up a best case scenario for his death, before, during, and after. He offered me many local options for hospital and at-home euthanasia, pet memorial sites and memorial products to think about. When my grief brain froze a lot of my functionality and literally could not figure things out on my own, we talked about the logistics and small details that made the biggest difference in the week leading up to and the day of his death. I was so appreciative of his attentiveness, and his vet experience was also invaluable to me as someone uncomfortable in medical environments and unfamiliar with a lot of the jargon.” - Karen

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When you think of "doula," chances are you might imagine a birth doula, which is a person who provides professional companionship to someone through the processes of pregnancy and birthing. Death doulas are the people who meet a person (or, in this case, an animal) on the other end of the path to aid clients through the dying process.

Knowing when “it’s time” can feel impossible. I can’t make the decision for you, but I can provide helpful resources to empower your decision-making process. I will aid you in creating the most comfortable dying process possible for your beloved and can help with planning palliative care, euthanasia, body disposition, memorialization, and more.

While working in veterinary medicine, I noticed a hole in the types of care provided - professional guidance and companionship around death. No one should have to struggle to gather resources and make pre-and-post death decisions alone, especially not when they are struggling with anticipatory grief. That's where I come in.

I am not a counselor or a therapist, but I AM a resource-gatherer, coordinator, eager listener, event planner, knowledge purveyor, and companion all in one.

  • I provide virtual sessions for planning prior to death and planning after death. I also offer in-person support during euthanasia.

  • I will work with any animal. For the sake of transparency, here are my skill levels:

    Advanced expertise: dogs and cats

Intermediate knowledge: reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, and other small mammals

Basic knowledge: horses, birds, and invertebrates

  • I am based in southeastern Pennsylvania with the ability to offer virtual sessions to anyone in any time zone of the USA.

  • We can have as many sessions as needed prior to euthanasia.

Some clients come to me when death is imminent and others begin seeing me for planning when their loved one enters their golden years and is still in good health. If you have a companion animal at any stage of life and want to plan for their end-of-life, I am available to you as a resource. The decision is up to you.

If your beloved has already passed away, I will gladly have memorialization planning sessions with you. However, please keep in mind that I am not a grief counselor — if/when the need arises for your family to see a grief specialist, I am more than happy to refer you to a qualified professional.

  • All of my virtual service offerings are sliding scale.

My in-person presence at euthanasia is the only service with a firm price, due to the need to adjust my schedule for travel time, cost of travel, and in-person safety hazards.

Please view my service menu for pricing. I am also open to trades when appropriate.

  • At this time payment is accepted via Venmo @littlebelldeathcare.
